Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE REMPEL (nee GOERTZEN) With profound sadness we announce her passing on May 19, 2011 at the age of 73. We rejoice in the knowledge she has gone home to be with her Lord and Saviour. She is survived by her children Shirley (Pat), David (Lorie), Caroline (Ron), Colleen (Gord), Ken, Sue (Jarrod); grandchildren Bailey, Brad, Adrienne, Ben, Lauren, Chad, Katharyn, Alexandra, Stephanie, Kyle, Jeff, Rebekah, Zackery, Abigail, Dylan, Karly, Mason and Jenna; also four sisters, one brother and their families. She was predeceased by the love of her life Ernie in 1989; daughters Kathy and Nancy, and grandson Conner. Elsie and her twin sister were born on June 5, 1937 in Furstenwerder, Molotshna, Ukraine. Mom started life at two and a half pounds not expected to live but her fighting spirit proved them wrong. Her mom and siblings safely came to Canada and settled in Greendale, BC. In 1954 she came to Manitoba with her younger sister and soon after met and married Ernie. Mom loved children, animals, crafting and helping others. She was more than generous in any way she could and would often offer to adopt others into our family to take care of them. Every opportunity she had she would share her faith in Jesus Christ whether it was shopping, doing laundry at her apartment, or being sick in hospital. Next to her children, her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved nature (especially dandelions) and was often seen tending to her flowers. Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Health Sciences Centre Surgery Unit for all you did for mom. We especially thank Cam from the Step Down Unit. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., at the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield Street. Interment will take place in the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church Cemetery in Springstein. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 24, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation in Elsie's memory to a charity of your choice.
